A ceremony in the Netherlands.

Symbolic weddings for couples who live somewhere else — castles, country estates and canal houses, with the celebrant, the suppliers and your guests' travel handled by someone who lives here.

What we do

Everything the distance makes harder.

A symbolic ceremony is yours to shape — no script, no template, nothing anybody else decides for you. What is hard is arranging it from four countries away. These are the three parts that catch people out.

A ceremony you write yourselves

Symbolic means nothing is prescribed. Your words, your order, your rituals, in whatever language the room actually speaks — read by a celebrant who has done it in front of a hundred people before.

Suppliers who have done this before

Florists, caterers, photographers and musicians we have worked with and can vouch for, briefed in your language and theirs.

Guests, landed and looked after

Flights into Schiphol, a block of rooms held at the right price, and transport that gets ninety people to a country estate and back again after midnight.

Where

Somewhere that could only be here.

The Netherlands is small enough that almost all of it is within ninety minutes of an international airport, and varied enough that it does not feel like it.

Castles and country estates

Utrecht and Gelderland: moated houses and walled gardens, an hour from Amsterdam.

Canal houses

Amsterdam: seventeenth-century rooms on the water, for a smaller party that wants the city itself.

Coast and dunes

Zeeland and North Holland: wide beaches, long light, and a ceremony with your shoes off.

Barns and polder land

Friesland and the Betuwe: big skies, long tables, and room for everyone you have ever met.

How it works

How it works

  1. 1

    A first call

Free, about an hour, in your language. What you picture, when, roughly how many, and what you would rather not think about.

  2. 2

A plan and a real budget

Venues that fit, suppliers who are free on the date, and what it actually costs — before you commit to anything.

  3. 3

    The day itself

We run it. You are a guest at your own wedding, which is the entire point of hiring somebody.

Who you will be planning it with.

The same person from the first call to the last dance, living in the country your wedding is in.

We build the software we run on.

Ceremony Studio Planner is the system behind these weddings — the timeline, the suppliers, the money, and the couple's own page for their guests. Other planners licence it.

For planners

Tell us about your wedding.

A date, a rough number of guests, and where you are flying from is enough to start.
